Feds charge two men after Hakimo Road raid

Federal prosecutors yesterday charged two convicted felons with firearms offenses and Honolulu police reportedly identified three stolen vehicles on a 10-acre Hakimo Road property that was raided Tuesday in an investigation of illegal dumping.

Richard Allen "Dicky" Botelho, 62, and Dwayne Luis Dano, 43, who lived on the Hakimo Road property, were arrested there Tuesday. They were charged with being felons in possession of firearms.

Botelho has 19 prior convictions, eight of them felonies, dating to 1964. Dano has six convictions, including three for felony armed robbery in 1993.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency agents, assisted by other federal officers and state Public Safety personnel, returned to 87-1161 Hakimo Road to search for hazardous waste materials believed to be buried in five deep holes on the property.
