Vog expected to start clearing away tonight

Hazy skies and light winds will continue across most of the smaller islands today, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Weak trade winds are already returning to the Big Island and are expected to fill in over the remainder of the state later today and Sunday, the forecast said.

With the return of the trade winds, the vog should clear away from the smaller islands tonight.

There may also be a few trade showers along the windward slopes of the islands Sunday or Sunday night.

Here's what to expect during the next few days:

Today: Widespread haze. Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. Southwest wind around 7 mph.

Tonight: Isolated showers after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Northeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Sunday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 83. East wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Sunday night: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Monday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 83. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Monday night: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
