Motorcycle driver critical after accident

Advertiser Staff

A 51-year-old man was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition last night after he broadsided a car that was making a left turn in front of him.

The accident occurred at 10:10 p.m. On Ka Uka Boulevard in Waipahu.

Police said a 25-year-old woman in a gray 1996 Ford 4-door sedan was attempting to turn left onto the H-2 onramp when she turned in front of the man riding his black 1998 Harley Davidson in the opposite direction. The motorcycle driver broadsided the sedan, but the female driver was not injured.

Speed may have been a factor in the crash, police said, and alcohol may have been a factor for the motorcycle driver who was not wearing his helmet at the time.

The accident occurred during light traffic under clear skies in dry conditions.
