6th-grader in guarded condition after hit by car in Kalihi Valley

Advertiser Staff

A 12-year-old boy walking to Dole Intermediate School remains in guarded condition after being struck by a vehicle while crossing at Kamehameha IV Road and Lakaloa Place, police said.

The boy, a sixth grader, was on his way to school and was hit at 7 a.m., said Honolulu Police Sgt. Lloyd Sanburn. Police arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly driving without a license, a misdemeanor. The suspect posted bail and was released. It is not known if speed or alcohol were a factor in the incident.

The boy suffered injuries to his right shoulder and arm, Sanburn said.
