NFL: Wait continues for Cowboys' Pacman Jones

By Todd Archer
The Dallas Morning News

IRVING, Texas — Any attempt by suspended cornerback Pacman Jones to speak with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will have to wait until at least tomorrow.

The NFL is holding its spring meeting today in Atlanta, where owners will pick the site for Super Bowl XLVI in 2012 and possibly decide to opt out of the current collective bargaining agreement.

Greg Aiello, the NFL's senior vice president of public relations, said Goodell plans on getting a progress report on Jones "soon."

Jones had been holding out hope he could take the field today for the beginning of the Cowboys' organized team activities.

Jones, who was suspended more than a year ago for multiple violations of the league's conduct policy, moved to the area last week and spent Sunday at Jason Witten's SCORE Foundation celebrity bowling event with many of his new teammates. Per league rules, Jones is not allowed to visit the Valley Ranch facility or take part in any team-organized training.

Goodell has repeatedly said he will make a decision on reinstatement before training camp begins in July. In January, Goodell granted Jones permission to work out at the Tennessee Titans' facility. But that same month, Goodell took the privilege away after a woman claimed Jones hit her at an Atlanta strip club.

While serving an eight-game suspension last year, defensive tackle Tank Johnson was allowed to meet with the Cowboys' player development team and work out on his own at the facility.
