House fire displaces 8 in Nanakuli

Advertiser Staff

Eight people were displaced when fire caused extensive damage to their Nanakuli home late Tuesday night.

The blaze at a single-story structure on Mokiawe Street, near Nanakuli High School, was reported about 9:15 p.m. Honolulu firefighters had the fire under control about 9:45, said Capt. Terry Seelig, HFD spokesman.

Damage to the six-bedroom, single-story home was estimated at $400,00 while damage to its contents was estimated at $30,000.

Seelig said fire investigators were trying to determine what caused the fire. A hazardous materials team was sent after fire crews received a report of possible hazardous materials on the property; it was not immediately known if any were found.
