Mayweather Jr. scores TRO against unauthorized Web site

By KEN RITTER
Associated Press Writer

LAS VEGAS — Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has scored a TRO in the first round of a federal cybersquatting lawsuit against the operators of a Web site using the domain name "floydmayeather.net."

A U.S. District Court judge in Las Vegas issued a temporary restraining order Tuesday to stop an entity called Atlanta Sports & Entertainment Marketing from using Mayweather's name and likeness on the site.

The undefeated welterweight fighter lives in Las Vegas.

He claims in a lawsuit filed Monday that the domain user has no authority to profit from his fame, and shouldn't be soliciting $50 memberships for what the Web site touts as Mayweather's "official" fan club.

The legal battle was first reported by the gossip Web site TMZ.com.
