Hawaiian shares to sell on Nasdaq

Advertiser Staff

Hawaiian Holdings Inc., parent company of Hawaiian Airlines, said its shares will begin trading on the Nasdaq Global Market June 2.

The shares currently trade on the American Stock Exchange, and will do so until the market closes on May 30. The company's ticker symbol will remain "HA."

"We are pleased to announce the company's listing on the Nasdaq Global Market," said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian's president and chief executive officer.

"We believe the move to Nasdaq will improve the visibility of our stock, enhance trading liquidity in our shares and provide the company with greater exposure to institutional investors."

MATSON HONORED FOR BOOSTING GM

Matson Navigation Co. received the General Motors 2007 Supplier of the Year award for its significant contributions to GM's global product and performance achievements.

The 16th annual award — titled "Best of the Best" — was given during ceremonies held recently in Jacksonville, Fla. Matson President and CEO James Andrasick accepted the award on behalf of the company.

Recent enhancements to Matson's auto carriage service include the re-entry of the MV Mokihana following modification work that involved adding a new auto garage. The new design increased Matson's Hawai'i roll-on-roll-off capacity by more than 30,000 autos per year and features a fully enclosed garage.

Matson provides ocean transportation services to Hawai'i, Guam, China and Micronesia, as well as logistics services through its subsidiary, Matson Integrated Logistics. Matson is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alexander & Baldwin Inc.

ISLE TESTING LABS FALL SHORT IN AUDIT

A recent U.S. Environmental Protection Agency audit of two commercial testing laboratories in Hawai'i revealed a need for improvement at Aecos Laboratory of Hawaii and the Food Quality Laboratories for some water quality testing.

The EPA graded Aecos unacceptable and Food Quality conditionally acceptable for water quality testing on a species of indigenous Hawaiian sea urchin. The labs perform toxicity tests for companies that have permits for wastewater discharge.

"These tests are important to determine the toxicity of wastewater discharges to marine life," said Alexis Strauss, water division director for the EPA Pacific Southwest region. "Permittees with toxic discharges need to identify the chemicals causing toxicity and reduce them to nontoxic levels."

The audit reports provide recommendations to each lab on how to correct and improve its water quality testing and the EPA has requested corrective action plans from both labs.
