The incidence of basal cell carcinoma in women under 40 has tripled over the past 30 years, Fitness magazine reports. The mag notes that sunscreen doesn't last all day — it should be applied morning and afternoon — and the editors have this suggestion: Carry a sample-sized bottle in your car's cup holder or glove compartment, so it's convenient to apply before running out for lunch or midday errands.

HAWAII YOUTH SYMPHONY OFFERS FREE CONCERT

The Hawaii Youth Symphony gives a rare free performance at 7 tonight at Orvis Auditorium, University of Hawai'i-Manoa, performing works the musicians prepared alongside their coaches from the Honolulu Symphony. Five ensembles will perform. One group will debut an original work by local composer, University of Hawai'i student and former HYS member Michael-Thomas Foumai.
