Kaimi Mead's dominance of the Pacific West Conference extended into the off-season as the senior pitcher from Hawai'i Pacific captured PacWest Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year honors, the conference announced yesterday.

Hawai'i-Hilo right fielder Keoni Manago was selected Freshman of the Year after batting .231 with 21 RBIs.

Mead compiled a 7-1 record highlighted by a no-hitter over Northwest Nazarene.

Joining Mead on the all-conference first team were Sea Warrior teammates Danny Lee, Paul Nishimura, Spencer Omalza, B.A. Garner and Aaron Asher. Rounding out the first team were Dixie State's Jordan Daley, Kyle Pratt, Klint Anderson, Kris Cichoski and Blake Mickelson, and Grand Canyon's Matt Fox.

The second team features five Hawai'i-Hilo players — Alvis Satele, Michael Higa, Ronel Trias, Dayne Ogawa and Joe Davis — as well as HPU's Michael Kealoha and Jacob Valentine, Grand Canyon's Austin Stockfisch and Nick Lowery and Dixie State's Nick Orgill.

HPU topped the conference with a 31-20-1 overall record.

Baseball becomes an official conference sport next year when the four teams compete in a 30-game PacWest schedule.
