Rainbow film fest explores wide range of themes

The 19th annual Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival, presented by the Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Cultural Foundation, continues through Sunday at Doris Duke Theatre, Honolulu Academy of Arts.

College student Tyler invites his buddy Chase to spend the summer holidays with his family, and Chase finds himself attracted to Tyler's father. Lead actor and writer-producer Charlie David (Chase) will attend the screening.

Bigotry and humanity are themes in a story about 16-year-old Tru, who moves with her lesbian mothers from gay-friendly San Francisco to a conservative community in Southern California. Wade and producer Antonio Brown will attend.
Preceded by "Get Me Bodied" (6 minutes). Hawai'i music video features local performer Keisha and friends working it out to one of Beyoncé's hits. Director Brent Anbe will be present.

Vita Corimbi, who toured with "Menopause the Musical," and her husband Brian Grasmick will perform on piano and trumpet for New Orleans jazz show reminiscent of the 1920s; there's a silent auction, too. Flapper attire suggested.
