VAMPIRE WEEKEND

Tickets are on sale for a July 29 concert by hot indie band Vampire Weekend.

The show begins at 8 p.m. at Pipeline Cafe; tickets are $25 general, $45 VIP.

The New York City, afro-pop-influenced band was named the year's best new band in the March 2008 issue of Spin magazine. 877-750-4400, www.ticketmaster.com.

BOBBY BROWN IN AUGUST

Bobby Brown, of "Don't BeCruel" and "My Prerogative" fame — in addition to some non-musical infamy — is coming this way as part of a bash called "That Big 80s Show," Aug. 2 at Pipeline Cafe.

'80s cover band The Fab 4 and DJs also are part of the mix.

Brown was an R&B star in the late 1980s, but more recently has been in the news for legal and substance-abuse problems.

Doors open at 8 p.m. The show, a benefit for Musical Youth of Hawaii, is for those 18 and older.

Tickets are $42.50 advance, $50 at the door. They go on sale June 2 at Ticketmaster outlets (877-750-4400, www.ticketmaster.com).
