Waipahu Elementary School's Tech Trekkers Afterschool Program was awarded first place in the Olelo Youth Xchange PSA Elementary School category.

The awards ceremony was held May 9.

Tech Trekkers received the award for their video, "Homelessness...Not a Choice." The winning video team is led by Allan Lagaaia and Christian Galiza.

Besides being recognized as the winner of the PSA category, Waipahu Elementary was represented as a finalist in the documentary category for "Big Messages come from Small Voices," the HI-5¢ recycling category for "High 5 Super Team" and the music video category for "Lucky you Live Hawaii."
