A warrant for Kelii J.B. Acasia's arrest had been outstanding since March 27, according to court records.

The warrant was issued after Acasia, on probation for a 2006 rape conviction, failed to appear at a court hearing for his participation in Project Hope, a program that promises swift consequences for offenders who violate the rules of probation.

HPD Maj. Frank Fujii initially said Wednesday that police never received the arrest warrant, but yesterday said it was received by the department April 1.

"I was given the wrong information," Fujii said yesterday.

Police served the outstanding warrant May 17 after Acasia was arrested on suspicion of assaulting Nakoa, Fujii said. He was unable to say what efforts, if any, the department made to serve the warrant and arrest Acasia between April 1 and May 17.
