Stephanie Kono moves into second at junior tourney in Arizona

Punahou senior Stephanie Kono shot a 3-under-par 69 today to move into a tie for second, three shots behind leader Tiffany Lua, in the second round of the Thunderbird International Junior at Grahawk Golf Club's Raptor Course in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Kono was at 1-over 145 and tied with first-round leader Marika Lendl (74) in the tournament conducted by the American Junior Golf Association. Lua shot a 70 today.

Former Kaimuki High golfer Chan Kim, who now lives in Chandler, Ariz., shot a 1-over 73 and was tied for seventh in the boys' division at 142, four shots behind leader William Kropp, who shot a 70.

The final round is tomorrow.
