Hope and hot dogs for homeless vets today

Advertiser Staff

Hot dogs, hamburgers and hope will be served to homeless veterans this Memorial Day from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ala Moana Park.

U.S. Vets, a nonprofit organization that operates housing and clinical care programs for homeless veterans in Hawaii, will be at the diamondhead end of the park today.

"We do this on Memorial Day to remember those that are often forgotten," said Darryl Vincent, the organization's Hawaii site director. "We want to let them know that they can still live a fulfilling life and we are here to help them do just that."

The University of Hawaii West Oahu Psychology Club, the Psi Chi Chapter and the National Psychology Honors Society donated $200 to the event, and some of their members will be on hand to offer counseling services.
