Honolulu firefighters are battling a brushfire this afternoon in the hills above Kahuku.

Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig said the blaze, reported just after 2 p.m., is in a remote area behind Pohohaili Street.

The department is using helicopters to drop water on the fire and to shuttle firefighters into the area.

The blaze is not threatening any homes and is moving up the mountain, not toward any developed property.
