TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"The Andromeda Strain," 6 p.m., A&E; concludes tomorrow. A satellite crashes in small-town Utah. People begin dying — suddenly and messily — while officials scramble for a way to block its deadly virus. This Michael Crichton tale, first filmed in 1971, has been brilliantly remade. There are three gifted directors involved. Ridley Scott ("Blade Runner") and his brother Tony ("Top Gun") produced, with cable craftsman Mikael Solomon directing. The result is smart, taut and visually compelling. Benjamin Bratt leads an elite science team, with Daniel Dae Kim of "Lost" and others. Andre Braugher is a distrusted general; Eric McCormack is terrific as a rogue reporter.

TONIGHT'S MIGHT-SEE

"The Bachelorette," 8 p.m., ABC. After being jilted by "The Bachelor" last fall, DeAnna Pappas started her show last week, trimming 10 guys. Now she takes the remaining 15 on guy-type dates to a Dodger game and the Magic Castle.

OF NOTE

Miniseries, 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., Hallmark Channel. Here are five three-hour films, starting with "Pandemic." Some (including "Mysterious Island" at 11 a.m.) are smart, some (including "Shark Swarm" at 2 p.m.) are not. All aim for big-picture thrills.

"The Devil Wears Prada" (2006), 4 p.m., and "Recount" (2008), 6 and 10:10 p.m., HBO. Here's a dandy double-feature: The first film eyes the fashion-magazine world, the second the Florida vote recount in 2000.

"E.T." (1982), 5 p.m., Nickelodeon. Here's a great movie for any age.

"Two and a Half Men," 8 p.m., CBS. Charlie decides to date an accomplished woman his age (Ming-Na Wen).

"When Harry Met Sally" (1989), 8 p.m., Oxygen. With Nora Ephron's clever script, Rob Reiner directed Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal in a delightful romantic comedy.
