Courtney Kessell was named the Pitcher of the Year and Hawai'i Pacific University landed nine players on the 2008 All-Pacific West Conference Softball Team, the conference announced.

HPU's Howard Okita and Bryan Nakasone, who guided the Sea Warriors o a 43-5-1 record, also were named co-Coaches of the Year.

Dixie State junior pitcher/third baseman Haley Schumers was named PacWest Player of the Year

University of Hawaii-Hilo senior catcher Brittany Dock was chosen first team Designated Player and second team Catcher.

Kessell, a junior right-hander who starred at Kailua, was named first-team pitcher, along with teammate Sherise Musquiz.

Other HPU players on the first team were senior first baseman Nicole Kalakau, junior shortstop Krystal Plunkett, sophomore outfielder Ciera Senas and designated player Jessica Adolph.

Three other HPU players made second team. They were sophomore second baseman Casey Sugihara, senior catcher Anuhea Young, and sophomore outfielder Tajia Acierto.

Brigham Young-Hawaii junior third baseman Melissa Lehano (Mililani, HI/Mililani) was named to the second team.
