More VIP tables opened for Mäkaha Sons show

By Wayne Harada

Three more VIP tables have been added to "Take a Walk in the Country 6," the Makaha Sons' summertime event set for June 7 at The Waterfront at Aloha Tower Marketplace.

The on-the-waterfront venue, showcasing traditional Hawaiians music and hula, is new for the Hawaiian music trio, which previously staged the annual spectacle at the Waikiki Shell and in Makaha.

Because of the move to a smaller site, space is limited. Only between 800 to 1,000 can be accommodated this year.

Though the coveted VIP seating ($150) had been sold out through online sales, additional space was made available this week at the same price through Friday.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for cocktails and reserved and general admission (5:30 p.m. for VIP reservations).

The event will feature Louis "Moon" Kauakahi, John Koko and Jerome Koko, of course, along with Kealo Koko, Halau Hula 'O Hokulani, Halau Hula 'O Kawaili'ula, Ka Leo'O Laka I Kahikina O Ka La, and Puka'ikapuaokalani Hula Halau. Other guest artists include Hawaiian Connection, a trio featuring Barry Kimokeo, Bernard Kalua and Alika Odom. Billy V will host.

Admission at the door, if space remains: $200, $100, $50.

Reservations: 282-3303, www.makahasons.com.
