Bank robbery suspect surrenders on Kauai

A 50-year-old man surrendered yesterday in connection with a bank robbery Saturday in Lihu'e, Kaua'i police reported today.

Mark Chambers, of Hanalei, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery and is being held at the Kaua'i police cellblock, with bail set at $20,000.

A man entered First Hawaiian Bank at Kukui Grove Center about 11:40 a.m. Saturday, demanded money from a bank teller, and left with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said in a release.

No one was injured in the incident and no weapon was displayed, police said.
