Waialae armed robbery suspect charged

Prosecutors today charged a Kalihi man in connection with allegedly trying to rob a cab driver at knifepoint Monday night in Waialae.

Hai Ngoc Pham, 34, is accused of first-degree robbery. He is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail overnight at the main police station cellblock and has an initial appearance scheduled at District Court tomorrow.

The male cab driver, 56, was not injured.

Pham was sentenced in May 1996 to 10 years in prision for first-degree terroristic threatening and a firearms offense.
