Weather: Sunshine should last the weekend

Advertiser Staff

The dry, sunny weather should last into the start of the weekend, the National Weather Service said in its forecast.

A ridge to the northwest of the islands will maintain light to moderate trade winds and dry weather through at least tonight, forecasters said.

The winds will gradually strengthen as the weekend approaches with a high pressure area building up north of the state.

Showers may increase early next week as the trades carry moisture from an old frontal band over the islands.

Here's how the next few days are shaping up:

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind between 11 and 14 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 86. East wind around 13 mph.

Friday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind between 11 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 84. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
