Colleges select 12 from Hawaii

Twelve Hawai'i students are among the 2,800 winners of college-sponsored scholarships announced this week by the National Merit Scholarship Corp.

These awards are worth up to $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship. The winners are:

  • Stacey Torigoe of Waiakea High School in Hilo, Westmont College Scholarship.

  • Maegan Doi of 'Iolani School, Carleton College Scholarship.

  • Derek Feinberg of 'Iolani School, Arizona State University Scholarship.

  • Ryan Gomoto of 'Iolani School, University of Southern California Scholarship.

  • Allison Hasegawa of 'Iolani School, Colorado College Scholarship.

  • Kimberlee Hashiba of 'Iolani School, Northwestern University Scholarship.

  • Kate Ikehara of 'Iolani School, University of Southern California Scholarship.

  • Colleen Lundy of 'Iolani School, Arizona State University Scholarship.

  • Allyson Mizumoto-Gitter of Punahou School, Willamette University Scholarship.

  • Elizabeth Murphy of 'Iolani School, Carleton College Scholarship.

  • Peter Meyer of Seabury Hall, Claremont McKenna College Scholarship.

  • Lydia Lund of Seabury Hall, Whitman College Scholarship.
