MUNICH, Germany —Hawai'i's Michelle Wie shot 4-under-par 68 in her debut on the Ladies European Tour yesterday.

Wie shares seventh place after the first round of the Ladies German Open, at Golfpark Gut Haeusern. The leader is Nina Reis of Sweden, who opened with a 64.

Wie, a Punahou School alum, birdied three of her first five holes and added another on the 17th in a bogey-free round.

"I felt like I played really well but I felt like I left a couple out there as well, especially on the par fives," said Wie, 18, who took the spring semester off at Stanford to play more golf. "I felt like I didn't really take advantage on the short par-fives as much as I could have. Overall I'm pretty happy with how I played. I played consistently."

It is Wie's third tournament of the year. She made the cut, but finished last at the Fields Open in Hawai'i in February. Earlier this month she missed the cut at the Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill.

Wie has earned more than $760,000 in prize money since turning professional nearly three years ago. She accepted a sponsor's exemption in Germany.

Wie will attempt to qualify for the U.S. Women's Open on June 9 in the sectional qualifier at Woodmont Country Club in Maryland.
