Five young honu — green sea turtles — bred at Sea Life Park will be released at 4 p.m. today into the ocean at Makapu'u beach across from the park.

The release is the highlight of daylong celebration beginning at 10:30 a.m. designed to promote awareness about the turtle, a threatened species. Activities include face painting, coloring, crafts, food and games, and chances to view honu up close.

Admission to the park is at a reduced rate for kama'aina today: $15 adults, $10 kids 3 to 11. 259-2577.
