Man posts bail in forgery and assault on a police officer incident

Advertiser Staff

The man whom police say drove a car into an officer was charged yesterday for attempted assault in the first degree, forgery and identity theft, following his release from the hospital where he had been since last week's incident.

The 27-year-old man, Aaron Capello, who has no local address listed, is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail for four warrants, police said. The police officer was treated for minor injuries.

He was arrested Friday after allegedly driving a car at an officer during the arrest at 98-0175 Kaonohi St. in Waimalu following the positive identification of the man for a forgery at a Kahakai Drive business, near Ala Moana Center on Monday.

Following his arrest, he was taken to a hospital for treatment of an undisclosed injury that police say is not related to the incident.
