6-hour water service shutdown set for Kauai community

Advertiser Staff

Water service to the entire east Kilauea area on Kaua'i's north shore will be disrupted for six hours this week due to the installation of a 12-inch waterline at Kilauea Bridge.

Work will begin at 10 p.m. Thursday and is expected to be completed by 4 a.m. Friday. The new waterline is part of the bridge replacement project.

While the work is being done, county officials said there will be no water service at Kilauea School, along Kolo Road, between Pukalani Place and Ho'okui Road and Ho'okui Place, Malulani Street and Malulani Place, and Liliuokalani Street, between Kolo Road and Kahe Street.

Residents affected by the water service disruption are encouraged to prepare by storing the water they need for this six-hour period, officials said. Those who live between Ho'okui Road and Waipake are asked to refrain from using water for the duration of the work period as storage tanks servicing the area will not have the capacity to be refilled, according to the county.
