NFL: Culpepper plans to sign 2-year contract with Lions

ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Quarterback Daunte Culpepper says he plans to sign a two-year deal with the Detroit Lions after taking a physical.

The 31-year-old Culpepper said in an e-mail to The Associated Press on Monday that Detroit represents the best spot for him to resume his NFL career. He says he is encouraged by the vision of the team's management and the potential of the talent on the team.

Culpepper was a Pro Bowler with the Minnesota Vikings and has played for Miami and Oakland.

The Lions fell to 0-8 following Sunday's 27-23 loss at Chicag
