Weather: Mostly clear with chance of light showers

Advertiser Staff

Trade winds are expected to remain on the gentle side for the next few days, the National Weather Service said.

The weak flow will allow daytime sea breezes and nighttime land breezes to develop, forecasters said.

Clouds and showers will form over the islands this afternoon and again Thursday but the atmosphere will be too dry and stable for much rainfall.

A high pressure will build north of the islands starting Thursday, producing locally breezy trade winds by Friday morning. As the trades return, showers will shift to windward areas.

Here's a closer look at the remainder of the work week:

Today: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 83. North wind 7 to 13 mph becoming south. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers before 9pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming north. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. North wind 9 to 14 mph becoming south.
