'EWA BEACH
Hoakalei group giving away native na'u plants

The Hoakalei Cultural Foundation will observe Arbor Day by giving away 300 na'u plants to 'Ewa Beach residents.

The endangered plant, commonly known as the Hawaiian gardenia, will be given away in one-gallon pots from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Keone'ula Elementary School cafeteria.

The group was formed to ensure good stewardship of the 'Ewa Plain in hopes of preserving its heritage.
