A 27-year-old man charged with Monday's stabbing death of a Waipahu man at a Kalihi apartment complex made his initial appearance today at District Court.

Renson Joseph, 27, of 802 Waiakamilo Road, accused of second-degree murder, is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Joseph is accused of stabbing Otomar Muritox, 36, during a confrontation with the victim and another man, identified in a court document as Astereo Atiput, at 10:30 p.m. fronting apartment 7C at 801 Kaiwiula St.

Muritox was pronounced dead at The Queen's Medical Center at 11:04 p.m. An autopsy listed cause of death as "injury to the aorta, stab wound of the neck" and manner as homicide.

The court document stated that Joseph's girlfriend saw him run into their apartment, grab a kitchen knife from the sink area, before he returned to the nearby Kaiwiula Street apartment.
