Two faith organizations have chosen new leaders:

Two faith organizations have chosen new leaders:

• The Rev. Shugen Komagata officially was appointed the new bishop of the Hawaii Soto Mission in a ceremony on Oct. 11 at the 'Aiea mission, conducted by Rev. Yoyu Miyashita of Japan. He takes over for retired Bishop Jiho Machiada and is resident minister of Ryusenji Soto Mission in Wahiawa for 27 years. Komagata is also the father of Rev. Shuji Komagata.

• The Rev. Mary Paik was hosen senior pastor at Nu'uanu Congregational Church, 2651 Pali Highway and will begin the first Sunday of Advent, Nov. 30. Ordained in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in 1987, she has served as the English ministry pastor of a Korean congregation in Michigan, a presbytery staffer in California, and most recently as vice president for student affairs at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago.
