Hawaii gas consumption falls 6.4% in August

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i gasoline consumption fell 6.4 percent in August as the average price of a gallon of regular remained above the $4.30 mark.

That's some of the information contained in the state's latest Energy Trend Data report. On-road diesel fuel use was off 14.3 percent during the month compared with August 2007, while crude oil imports declined 7.6 percent in August compared to a year earlier.

The report also shows that the national average gas price for the first nine months of the year was 31 percent higher than in 2007, while Hawai'i's statewide price was 26 percent higher for the same period.
