A 17-year-old boy was charged as an adult today as the fourth suspect in an Aug. 11 shooting during a home-invasion robbery in Aliamanu that left a man paralyzed.

Family Court today waived jurisdiction over John Matt Rasalan, who was then charged as an adult with two counts of first-degree robbery, three counts of kidnapping, one count of first-degree burglary and six firearm offenses, all class-A felonies.

Rasalan is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail pending an initial appearance tomorrow at District Court.

Eighteen-year-old Nicholas Kyle Nichols, also known as Nicholas R. Nichols, the alleged shooter, and two brothers — Kevin "Rambo" Khamsouk, 20, and Kerry Khamsouk, 18 — were charged in an indictment yesterday.

Nichols is charged with attempted murder in addition to the 12 counts that Rasalan and the Khamsouk brothers are accused of.

The remaining suspect, 16, remains under Family Court jurisdiction at the Hawai'i Youth Correctional Facility.

Nichols is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail for the Aliamanu case and has a trial pending for first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault stemming from alleged attacks on two men at Kalakaua District Park.

Nichols and the Khamsouk brothers are scheduled to be arraigned Monday at Circuit Court.

Five suspects allegedly forced their way into a Hulaku'i Drive home and held a man, then 19, and two women, ages 55 and 30, at gunpoint. Timothy Lapitan, now 20 years old, was shot in the abdomen when he tried to push the intruders out of the home. The shooting left Lapitan paralyzed.
