Man pulled from Nuuanu Stream in critical condition

Advertiser Staff

Firefighters helped pull a man out of the Nu'uanu Stream on River and North Hotel streets this evening.

The man, who is believed to be in his 60s, was in critical condition and taken to an area trauma hospital, said Bryan Cheplic, Emergency Medical Services spokesman.

The man was found by bystanders at 5:49 p.m. face down in the stream. They waded into the water and pulled him to a ledge on the side of the stream until firefighters could arrive and bring him up a ladder to waiting EMS personnel, said fire Capt. Earle Kealoha. There was no identification on the man's possession, Kealoha said.
