Motorcyclist arrested for allegedly ramming police officer in Pearl City

Police arrested a 43-year old man on multiple charges that include attempted homicide in the first degree for allegedly ramming a motorcycle police officer who was attempting to stop him for a traffic violation this afternoon, authorities said.

The 4:23 p.m. incident on Waimano Home Road in Pearl City, started with a police helicopter following a motorcyclist who was driving recklessly. While the motorcyclist was stopped at a light, a police officer on motorcycle coming from the opposite direction attempted to stop the man, police said.

The man instead allegedly accelerated his engine and rammed the officer, knocking both of them off their motorcycles. police said. The police officer, 41, was able to arrest the man for investigation of attempted homicide, reckless driving and refusing to stop.
