Police this morning are looking for the driver of a car that collided with a bicyclist late last night in Waianae, critically injuring man riding the bike.

Police said the 44-year-old bike rider was hit about 11:55 p.m. by a car that was traveling south on Plantation Road. The driver took off after striking the bicyclist, police said.

Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department, said paramedics determined the injured man was in critical condition when they arrived at the scene.

Police said the man was taken to The Queen's Medical Center.

Meanwhile, a boy in his early to mid-teens was also taken to Queen's after being struck by a car about 7 p.m. last night near the intersection of Kamehameha Highway and Leilehua Golf Course Road.

Cheplic said the boy was initially listed in critical condition but improved and was later listed in serious condition.

Information on the driver who struck the boy was not immediately available.
