'Iolani scored on five of its first six possessions and added two defensive touchdowns yesterday en route to a 48-23 victory over visiting Pac-Five in Interscholastic League of Honolulu football action at Eddie Hamada Field.

The Raiders, ranked No. 9 in The Advertiser's statewide Top 10 poll of coaches and media, improved to 9-3 overall and finished 7-2 in the ILH. They will represent the league in the upcoming Division II state tournament, earning a first-round bye and a seeded spot in the semifinals on Nov. 28.

Pac-Five's season ends at 3-9, 2-7.

'Iolani led 27-0 one play into the second quarter and 48-0 at halftime, initiating a running clock for the second half.

Jaren Nakamura recovered a free ball on the opening kickoff at the Wolfpack 29-yard line, and Kellen Imada ran it in from 7 yards four plays later to give the Raiders a quick 6-0 lead. After a Pac-Five three-and-out, 'Iolani marched 72 yards in nine plays, culminating in Trevyn Tulonghari's 11-yard touchdown reception from Jarrett Arakawa.

Andrew Skalman's extra point made it 13-0 with 7:04 remaining in the first quarter.

Four minutes later, Kela Marciel forced a fumble on a corner blitz and Greg Lum recovered, returning it 55 yards for a score. Marciel then made an interception and the Raiders converted it into a TD four plays later on a 37-yard pass from Arakawa to Brandon Ball.

Three series later, Breland Almadova intercepted a deflected pass and returned it 67 yards for a touchdown, and Travis Sato later scored on a 6-yard run to help put 'Iolani up, 48-0, with 3:32 left in the half.
