Two women arrested in Waikiki brawl

Police arrested two women in Waikiki yesterday for investigation of second-degree attempted murder after one allegedly drove her vehicle at the other, who then tried to stab the driver.

The women were arrested at Kuhio Avenue and Nahua Street at 4:55 p.m. Police said they were arguing over a male friend.

One woman, 32, allegedly drove her vehicle several times at the other woman, 20. The young- er woman punctured one of the vehicle's tires with a knife and allegedly tried to stab the older woman when she got out of the vehicle, police said.

The 32-year-old was also arrested for investigation of misdemeanor reckless endangering because a 2-year-old child was in the back seat of the vehicle, and also for third-degree promotion of a detrimental drug after police allegedly found her in possession of marijuana.

The younger woman was arrested for first-degree criminal property damage because of damage to the tire.

MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING GIRL, 13

Prosecutors last night charged a Hawai'i Kai man with the alleged sex assault of a 13-year-old girl last month in Manoa.

Ward Kiyo Gusukuma, 43, of an Awawamalu Street address, was charged with two counts each of first- and third-degree sex assault. Bail was set at $30,000. Gusukuma, a janitor at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa, is accused of having sex with the girl on Oct. 7 or Oct. 8.

The girl told police she had met Gusukuma for the first time on the day of the alleged offense.
