Minor quake rattles portions of the Big Island

A mild earthquake rattled portions of the Big Island early this morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake, assigned a 3.0 magnitude occurred about 4:30 a.m. about 10 miles north northwest of Naalehu at a depth of 4.3 miles, the USGS said.

Initial reports put the quake's epicenter about 50 miles southwest of Hilo.

There have been no reports of injuries or damage related to the quake.

The incident was reported by the U.S. Geological Survey's Hawaiian Volcano Observatory

Hawaii National Park.
