Hawaii Tourism Authority seeking firm to help with CEO search

Advertiser Staff

The Hawai'i Tourism Authority is seeking proposals and qualifications from firms to help the state agency find a new president and CEO.

The agency is looking for a replacement to former president Rex Johnson, who resigned after public criticism of inappropriate e-mails he sent from his state laptop computer.

The selected firm would report directly to the board's Search Investigative Committee and provide executive search and recruitment services. This committee was given the authority by the HTA Board of Directors to:

  • Make recommendations and findings related to establishing a criteria for selecting a president and CEO;

  • Hire an executive search firm;

  • Recommend a compensation package;

  • Recommend the selection of a permanent president and CEO.

    The request for proposals is available at HTA's office located at the Hawai'i Convention Center, 1801 Kalakaua Ave., First Level, Honolulu, or through HTA's Web site at www.hawaiitourismauthority.org. Proposals must be received by HTA no later than 4:30 p.m. Hawai'i time on Nov. 19.
