The chocolate fountain will be flowing and the trays of desserts will be stacked high once again when Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 780 Keolu Drive in Kailua, hosts its sixth-annual Chocolate Extravaganza from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, a benefit for Family Promise of Hawai'i and The Institute for Human Services. Silent-auction prizes range from gift cards to a one-of-a-kind grand private tour for eight people of the Marine Mammal Research Program on Coconut Island, a three-night stay at Kauai Beachhouse or Hawaii Opera Theatre tickets.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. A $30 golden VIP ticket gets you additional amenities. Information: 262-4548.

TASTY COMEBACK

KONA ABALONE AQUAFARM TAKING ORDERS

Abalone were once a popular and widespread delicacy, but they're expensive and difficult to find in recent years. Now the Big Island Abalone Corp. is taking orders for locally aquacultured, vacuum-sealed gift packs of abalone at the Saturday Farmers Market at Kapi'olani Community College. The 10-acre farm near the Kona Airport specializes in Japanese Ezo abalone, using both ice-cold deep-sea water and warm surface water to create the optimum temperature for growing up to 2 million abalone.

Until they can get their sales operation smoothed out, the company is taking orders at the farmers market for home delivery. You can also call 808-989-8852 or go to www.bigislandabalone.com.

FINAL WORD

(At Thanskgiving) "I would set the table ... and hope that my parents and my grandmother wouldn't have the annual Thanksgiving fight about Richard Nixon."
