Schools can apply for Project Graduation grant

Mayor Charmaine Tavares announced the availability of $60,000 to support alcohol- and drug-free Project Graduation programs for 2009 grads.

Public and private high schools may apply for a maximum grant of $5,000, of which 50 percent must be used to subsidize fees for students with financial need.

The deadline to apply is Dec. 19.

Applications are available online at www.mauicounty.gov/volunteercenter and at the Department of Housing & Human Concerns' Volunteer Center at One Main Plaza, Suite 601.
