NBA: Bulls sign veteran guard Hunter

Associated Press

CHICAGO — The injury-depleted Chicago Bulls signed veteran point guard Lindsey Hunter, who is expected to join the team for the game today against the Dallas Mavericks.

With a Bulls' backcourt thinned by injuries, the 37-year-old Hunter brings 15 years of experience to the team. He played 24 games for Detroit last season.

Guard Kirk Hinrich could be out for three months after thumb surgery, and Larry Hughes hasn't played this season because of a preseason shoulder injury.

Top draft pick Derrick Rose missed practice Wednesday because of back spasms but is expected to play against the Mavericks.

Hunter has averaged 8.8 points and 39-percent shooting in his career. He's also played with Milwaukee, Toronto and the Los Angeles Lakers.

He won NBA titles with the Pistons in 2004 and the Lakers in 2002.
