NHL: Ducks lose D Beauchemin for 6 months with ACL tear

Associated Press

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Anaheim Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin will miss about six months after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

An MRI done today revealed the tear that Beauchemin sustained in a 4-3 overtime loss to Nashville on Friday. He will be placed on long-term injured reserve.

The Ducks recalled forward Bobby Ryan and defenseman Brett Festerling from their AHL affiliate in Iowa.

Beauchemin had four goals and one assist in 18 games this season. He was tied for the second-most playing time on the team.

"This is an unfortunate injury for Francois and we feel badly for him," general manager Bob Murray said. "However, knowing his character as a player and person, we know he will rebound from this and return to the ice at full strength."
