The aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, on its way back from a six-month deployment to the Middle East, made a stop today at Pearl Harbor on its way to San Diego, its home port.

During the deployment, the Reagan and its carrier strike group — the guided-missile cruiser Chancellorsville, the guided-missile destroyers Decatur and Gridley, and the guided-missile frigate Thach — helped with disaster relief after Typhoon Fengshen struck the Philippines. The carrier delivered more than 519,000 pounds of food and fresh water to the people of Panay, Philippines.

Also during the deployment, the Reagan launched more than 1,150 sorties into southern Afghanistan in support of coalition troops fighting there.
