Rams offensive tackle hurts knee

Associated Press

St. Louis left tackle Orlando Pace left the Rams' game against the San Francisco 49ers in the first half yesterday because of an injured ligament in his knee, which could sideline the seven-time Pro Bowl lineman for a significant time.

St. Louis also lost right guard Richie Incognito to a strained rotator cuff just before halftime. Starting cornerback Ron Bartell was ruled out with a torn meniscus in his knee during the Rams' disastrous first half against the 49ers, who led 35-3 at halftime of their 35-16 victory. All three players will undergo MRI exams soon.

Linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa, a University of Hawai'i alum, injured his ankle, and fellow linebacker Will Witherspoon hurt his leg. Interim coach Jim Haslett didn't think either injury was serious.

Bengals wide receiver Antonio Chatman injured his neck when he was tackled after a reception in the second quarter of Cincinnati's 13-13 tie with the Eagles. He was taken off the field on a backboard as a precaution, but had full movement in his arms and legs.

X-rays were negative. He was staying in a hospital overnight for observation.

Bengals offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth severely sprained his right ankle during the third quarter and didn't return.

Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez hobbled off the field with a sprained ankle in the third quarter of Kansas City's game against New Orleans, but returned a short time later.

Giants offensive tackle Kareem McKenzie left the game against the Ravens for X-rays on his wrist but returned. Cornerback Aaron Ross left the game with a calf injury.

Chargers defensive end Luis Castillo left in the third quarter against the Steelers with a groin injury and did not return.

Ravens: Baltimore's Matt Stover set an NFL record yesterday, kicking his 372nd consecutive point after touchdown. The kick against the New York Giants broke the record Stover shared with University of Hawai'i alum Jason Elam (1993-2002) and Jeff Wilkins (1999-2007). Stover started his streak in 1996.

Saints: After hoping all week to get Reggie Bush back in the lineup, New Orleans put the running back on the inactive list yesterday against Kansas City. Bush missed his third game with a knee injury.

Jaguars: Jacksonville's Matt Jones, the Jaguars' leading receiver, was inactive against Tennessee, missing the game because of a thigh injury. Jones leads the Jaguars with 50 catches for 586 yards and two touchdowns.
