Prosecutors today charged a Kapolei man with allegedly making gunpoint threat to kill his employer.

John Jay Ota, 43, of a Kapolei Parkway address, is accused of first-degree terroristic threatening. His bail is $50,000 pending an initial appearance tomorrow at District Court. Ota has nine convictions, including first-degree criminal property damage and second-degree robbery, both felonies.

Ota allegedly made the threat Nov. 7 at a Pearl City area construction business during a job performance review and was fired. He was arrested Monday when he returned to the workplace.
