Fire damages Ilikai Yacht Harbor unit

Advertiser Staff

Firefighters last night extinguished a fire that broke out in a 19th-floor apartment at the Ilikai Yacht Harbor Tower.

Fire companies responded to the 6:59 p.m. alarm at 1777 Ala Moana and had the fire under control at 7:37 p.m.

Fire Capt. Robert Main said the fire started in the kitchen of unit 1901. A sprinkler system kept the fire from spreading to other units.

An 80-year-old woman who lives in the apartment escaped unharmed. Officials estimated the loss at $30,000 to the apartment and $10,000 to personal belongings.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, Main said.
